About nYa

Welcome to Hotel nYa in Montezuma, a vibrant hub of hospitality that connects visitors and locals and embodies the spirit of sustainability.

About Nya Hotel

Located in central Montezuma on the Nicoya Peninsula, you’re just steps from pristine beaches, fascinating tide pools, and cascading waterfalls. Our lush tropical gardens create a natural sanctuary where colorful birds and playful monkeys make their home.

Designed by Central American architects, our rooms harmonize modern comfort with Costa Rica’s natural beauty. We collaborate with local artisans and support conservation efforts through our partnership with Refugio Nacional de Vida Silvestre Romelia.

“Nya” means “tree” in the Chorotega language, honoring the indigenous heritage of this ancestral territory and reflecting our deep connection to the land we call home.

Mission

At Hotel nYa, we create memorable experiences through genuine hospitality that makes every guest feel welcomed and valued. We treat our guests like family, ensuring your stay is filled with warmth, care, and authentic Costa Rican hospitality.

History

Hotel nYa’s story is rooted in a family’s deep commitment to conservation and community in Montezuma. Originally built as Hotel Luz de Mono, the property was created by a family with a vision that extended far beyond hospitality – they were dedicated to preserving the natural beauty of Costa Rica’s coastline for future generations.

In April 2017, the property underwent a complete transformation under the guidance of a local woman born and raised in Montezuma. Her intimate knowledge of this fishing village at the tip of the Nicoya Peninsula, combined with her family’s conservation values, shaped nYa’s authentic approach to hospitality.

The renovation honored both the property’s conservation-minded origins and Montezuma’s evolving future, creating a place where “the old converges with the new” between the jungle and the sea. From its reopening, Hotel nYa established itself as more than just accommodation – becoming a hub that connects travelers with the authentic spirit of this coastal community.

Today, Hotel nYa continues this legacy of thoughtful hospitality while actively supporting local conservation efforts and celebrating the cultural heritage of the Chorotega people, staying true to the family’s original vision of protecting this special place.
